It's always fun to time your trip with a local fiesta , and there are a couple of fiestas patronales (Patron Saint festivals) on Isla de Ometepe that you might like to mark in your calendar. From July 23 to 26, the town of Moyogalpa honors Santa Ana with its famous Baile de las Inditas, a celebration of both Spanish and indigenous culture. It's San Diego's turn in Altagracia between November 12 and 18, a celebration again characterized by much dancing and merriment.
Weather-wise, there are the usual seasons: dry (November to May) and wet (June to October); not forgetting hurricane season, which officially runs from June to November. Temperatures are fairly stable, varying between around 22°C (72°F) at night, and 30°C (86°F) during the day.
Temperatures don't vary a great deal between seasons on Isla de Ometepe. Being to the west of the country, and part of the so-called tierra caliente (hot land), it averages around 30°C (86°F) during the day, and around 22°C (72°F) at night. The rainy season (which is not as wet as the eastern and northern parts of the country) lasts from May through October, and the dry season from December through April.
