Granada's climate is similar to that of Managua, very warm year-round, with daytime temperatures in the low 30°Cs (around 90°F). December and January are slightly cooler, and the rainy season (May to September) also provides relief from the heat with afternoon showers.

As in the rest of Central America, Semana Santa, Christmas and New Year are the peak seasons for travelers. You'll need to book well in advance if you're planning to visit Granada at these times.

Weather

On Nicaragua's Pacific side, where Granada is located, invierno (winter), or rainy season, runs from May to November, and is at its rainiest in September and October. Verano (summer), or dry season, lasts from November to April. This is the best time for hiking, camping and partying, and coincides with the tourist high season (December to March). As verano draws to a close, the Pacific forests lose their leaves and lake levels drop to reveal sandy beaches - put them to good use as temperatures soar from the high-20°Cs (high-80°Fs) into the mid-30°Cs (mid-90°Fs), or worse.
