Getting There

With British monetary support, Gerald's Airport opened in 2005. Small planes make the hop from nearby Antigua at least four times a day. Ferry services also operate to and from Antigua.

Getting Around

Nearly two-thirds of the island falls into the Exclusion Zone, the area deemed too close to volcanic activity, thus making nothing terribly far. The Daytime Entry Zone - comprising the top part of St George's Hill - is usually open between - . Minivans provide the bus service around the island, and the fare is fixed no matter how far you intend to go. Buses are easy to spot as they all have 'H' license plates. The only problem is that taxis also have 'H' license plates, so check with the driver before hopping in or you may get a nasty surprise at the end of the journey. It's easy to hail a bus — just stand on the side of the road and wave. Several operators offer guided tours of the islands.
