Introducing La Ceiba
La Ceiba is a convenient base camp for a slew of good outdoor excursions, including hiking, canoeing, rafting, canopy tours and butterfly farms. Sure, it’s not the most attractive city in the world – the hotels are so-so and the beach is mediocre – but hopefully you’ll be out and about all day and have energy to check out the city’s justly famous nightlife. You’re certain to pass through La Ceiba anyway, on your way to/from the Bay Islands or La Moskitia. Rather than making a beeline from bus station to the ferry pier, stop here a while – it’s well worth it.
