Vibrant Georgetown offers a multitude of activities. One that should be high on any visitor's list is kicking back at the seawall and people-watching with the locals. Then, throw yourself into the chaotic nightlife and great dining scene. Further afield, the Kaietuer Falls are a challenging but worthwhile daytrip.
It's worth spending at least two days to take in the sights of this fascinating town and one of the best ways to do this is walking the streets. The best 19th-century buildings are along Main St and especially along Ave of the Republic, just east of the Demerara River.
Georgetown is a great starting point for numerous hinterland adventures. Rivers such as the Demerara, Essequibo and Potaro provide ample water-based opportunities, with the latter also the source for the magnificent Kaieteur Falls.
